So how long should you wait before reporting a missing person?
My lab manager, who is notoriously lazy about coming to work when he is "sick" -- regularly missing an entire week (never 4 days, always 5 business days), has now stopped showing up, answering his phone, emails, etc. Usually, when he is "sick" he sends an email. For instance, for the entirety of last week, he sent emails about being sick as the reason for not coming in
Then, on Monday, he didn't email, but didn't show up. Nor yesterday, nor today.
I'm now filling in for him, because my lab needs to run, experiments need to be covered, etc. And while I can't complain because I really need the money and it's the most work I've gotten this summer, it's also a lot to try to do all my work (I have analyses to do and papers to write up, coding work on the side, etc) in addition to keeping the lab running. And I was really excited about driving up to Chicago on Friday, because even if no funding means poverty, it also comes with a certain level of freedom! Guess that won't be happening now . . . in the meantime, I should just enjoy getting paid at all . . . .
